About James Darley
Welcome to Historic Performance! I am James Darley, a New York City based physical preparation coach, specializing in enhancing physical performance for soccer players. So if you are a soccer player looking to maximize your performance potential, then you have come to the right place!
Historic Performance is ultimately about you. My goal is to provide you with the necessary tools through my blog posts, podcast episodes, and expert coaching to improve your strength, speed, and agility to better prepare your body for the rigors of competition.
As a college soccer player, I was fortunate to be exposed to a fantastic soccer coach named Brian Dunleavy that knew the value of strength & conditioning when it came to on the field performance. After college, I made it my mission to learn as much as possible about programming and nutrition while getting my master's degree at McGill University.
Since starting Historic Performance in 2014, I have had the privilege of working with soccer players of all levels ranging from middle school to professional.
Prior to Historic Performance, I completed a strength & conditioning internship at LIU-Brooklyn, an internship with Alex Viada via his company Compete Human Performance, and a mentorship with Jesse Irizarry.
Through Historic Performance, I have had the privalge of working as a D1 strength & conditioning coach with the women's soccer program at LIU-Brooklyn, as a strength & conditioning coach for the Barbados National Team, and as a sport scientist with the New York Red Bulls while providing consulting services to small collegiate programs and high schools in the New York Metro Area.
When I am not coaching my personal clients or my Division I athletes, I like to write and blog about strength & conditioning for soccer players. My work has been featured in numerous top strength & conditioning publications and blogs including Juggernaut, Stack, Rebel Performance, and Change Collective.
